Campus Update – Remedial Works and Road Closures

Bourdon Building Scaffolding

Following positive progress with regards the remedial works to the Bourdon Building, removal of the scaffolding currently occupying Scott Street on the east elevation of the Bourdon Building will commence from Tuesday 14th September and should be completed by end of September 2021.

To facilitate these works, an application has been approved by Glasgow City Council Roads Department permitting the closure of both Scott Street and Renfrew Street over the weekend of the 18th and 19th September 2021.

Access to the Bourdon Building and Bourdon Library will be unavailable on 18th and 19th September 2021 to ensure the safety of pedestrians during this period.

Details of the works and how they may affect you are summarised as follows:

  • Pedestrian access routes shall be maintained at all times with the exception of 18th and 19th September 2021 during which public footpaths from Renfrew Street to Scott Street will be closed. These pedestrian routes will re-open from 6pm on Sunday 19th September 2021.
  • Vehicle access shall be maintained at all times during these works with the exception of 18th and 19th September 2021 during which Renfrew Street (at the Garnet Street junction) will be closed with the exception of local access. The lower part of Scott Street from the Sauchiehall Street to Renfrew Street junction will also be closed during this period. Appropriate diversions will be put in place during these road closures. All vehicle routes will re-open by 6pm on Sunday 19th September 2021.
  • Existing traffic management barrier systems shall remain in place during the works to protect whilst the scaffold dismantle is in progress.
  • Current parking bay restrictions on Scott Street will remain in place until all scaffold and safety measures have been removed which is anticipated to be by end of September 2021.

The Project Team thank you for your co-operation and patience during these works, and shall seek to minimise the impact of the works where possible.

Road Closure and Parking Restrictions for Filming 21 and 22 Sept

We have been notified that filming of a new series ‘The Control Room’ based in Glasgow will take place on Monday 21st and Tuesday 22nd September outside Fleming House on Renfrew Street. The production company has obtained permission for road closures over this date for Renfrew Street and Rose Street from the junctions with Dalhousie Street, Sauchiehall Street, Hill Street and Cambridge Street from 18:30 to 01:00 on both nights, along with ‘stop and go’ temporary traffic holds from 23:00 to 01:00.  There will also be parking restrictions on Rose Street and Renfrew Street over both dates to accommodate technical crew parking.
